Whether your child is back in class or in virtual learning, these simple ideas will help highlight the history and experience of veterans. There are many different activities that you can perform on this day such as crafting cards, making gifts, etc. These fun activities are amazing as you can involve other people with you as well. - Make a veteran thank you card. It is important to say “thank you” to the veteran. Ask the children to think about the freedom they are most grateful for and write a letter of appreciation to those who fought for it.
- Contact your local veterans organization or veterans hospital to arrange and distribute a letter of appreciation.
- Volunteers to help veterans. Spend the day seeking help at a local Veterans Affairs hospital or nursing home.
- Many organizations offer extracurricular and socially distant activities, such as assisting gardening and writing messages to veterans in need.
- Go to the parade or organize yourself. Many cities and schools offer Veterans Day events.
- Go to your local calendar to find the perfect event for you and your child. If you can’t find an event near you, consider adjusting your own car show in your area.

Complete your own craft with the American flag. Use your creative side and use materials from your home to make a replica of your own American flag. Take colors with you and make everything look creative and interesting.
